Qantas cancelling Sydney <> Johannesburg flights

Qantas has currently suspended all scheduled A380 services and will not resume flying their A380 fleet until they are completely confident that it is safe to do so and they receive clearance from the manufacturers and their regulators (also see the news regarding the emergency landing at Changi Airport in Singapore). According to Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce the airline's six Airbus jets will remain out of action for at least the next 72 (from today) hours [src.].

AS a result of the temporary suspension, the airline has suspended the following flights between South Africa & Australia on 08 Nov 2010:
  • QF63 Sydney <> Johannesburg
  • QF64 Johannesburg <> Sydney
All passengers will be re-accommodated onto alternative flights, subject to availability as follows:
  • QF304 on 08 Nov 2010
  • QF304 on 09 Nov 2010
  • QF64 on 09 Nov 2010

  1. Singapore Airlines has grounded three of its A380 aircraft to switch engines. The aircraft, in London, Melbourne and Sydney, will be flown to Singapore where their Rolls-Royce engines will be swapped for newer versions. More on http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/11/10/3062357.htm
